So the kind folks at Olympus donated 25
EPL-1 micro 4/3 cameras to us at
Visionworkshops.org to replace the DSLRs we lend our students during photography workshops. I had the great pleasure of taking one for a test drive (er.... all summer,) so that I'd be able to update the Tech Manual and explore new teaching possibilities with this super amazing tool!
For starters, I was immediately in love with how it
felt to hold this little guy. I've been shooting Nikon for years, primarily because they fit my hands so well. Despite the size, the
EPL-1 feels sturdy and also had an extremely satisfying shutter actuation. I don't know why that sensation triggers "quality photo" in my mind, but there is no lag, no whimpy little digital buzz that says, "your mediocre photo has been captured!" Its just a solid click that you can feel in your finger tip, makes you think "mission accomplished" not, "crap, did I miss that?"
